The digital stage for Arabia's first parliament, built for the people to decide.

Barlaman Sh3aib is a one-of-a-kind digital platform built to power an interactive public experience around forming Arabia's first parliament. From candidature announcements to public voting to parliament formation, the platform mirrors each stage of the process in real time, giving audiences a front-row seat and a direct voice.
This wasn't a standard build. The platform needed to support multiple distinct phases: introducing candidates, managing candidature, running public voting, and tracking the formation of the parliament. Each phase had its own logic, UI, and real-time data. And it all had to be built using agile methodology to keep pace with a live production schedule.
We structured the build around the show's phases, developing each stage as a distinct module with its own voting mechanics, candidature flows, and live counters. The agile approach meant we could iterate quickly and adapt the platform as the production evolved, shipping each phase in time for its on-air debut.
Built on Yii 2 with MySQL and AWS, the platform includes a candidature management system, a public voting engine, real-time counters, and phase-based navigation that mirrors the progression of the show. The infrastructure was designed to handle traffic spikes during live voting windows.
Barlaman Sh3aib delivered something rare: a digital platform that made audiences active participants in the narrative, not just viewers. The voting and candidature systems handled live public engagement at scale, turning a broadcast concept into an interactive experience.
